TRANSMAG will, every now and then, bring you a number of English proverbs and explain them, the following are this issue’s pick of proverbs.


"FOUR EYES SEE MORE THAN TWO"
Observation by two people is better than one alone and two heads are better than one.

"CUT YOUR COAT ACCORDING TO YOUR CLOTHES"
Actions should suit circumstances and resources.

"COLTHES MAKE THE MAN"
The man is his clothing.

"EVERY BULLET HAS ITS BILLET"
Fate determines what shall happen and to whom.

"HAPPY IS THE BRIDE THAT THE SUN SHINES ON"
It is reckoned a good omen, or a sign of future happiness, if the sun shines on a couple coming out of the church after having been married.

"A BIRD IN THE HAND IS WORTH TWO IN THE BUSH"
It is better to accept or be content with what one has than to try to get more and risk losing everything.
