UEFA Champions League for Football
European Champions League is regarded one of the biggest championships in Europe and the world, because it features a wonderful performance by the European clubs. Furthermore, it takes place in different cities of that continent annually.
This championship was established by two French journalists who worked at Likep newspaper for sport in France, Gabriel Hanno was the one who suggested to establish “The Cup of Europe for Clubs” in 1954. This proposition encountered a lot of positive reflections. Finally, on the 3rd of February 1955, the newspaper published a list of clubs to compete on the first championship.
Spain has the record for the number of this championship’s titles, its clubs were able to gain 12 titles since 1955. Then comes Italy and England who both occupy the second rank with 11 titles. Meanwhile, Germany and Netherlands come to occupy the third rank with 6 titles. Portugal comes fourth after its clubs had won 4 titles. As for the bottom rank, France, Romania, Scotland and Yugoslavia come with one title for each.
